Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

by DAVID GOODFELLOW on 04/05/17

Have you ever sat and watched people trying to figure them out? Or, you are at a function and you see people and "judge" them before knowing anything about them. You judge them by their looks, how they dress, how they speak, etc.
I've done it....prejudged people before getting to know them.
You look at someone and you think, "This lady wears disheveled clothes, looks poor, and speaks like there is something wrong with her." Then you get to know them and find out that they went to a prestigious university, volunteer for many things, and are involved in several organizations.
Oftentimes, we don't know a person's story, and we prejudge them by what we "see" and we miss out in knowing someone. How many times have you done that, and later (months, years) get to know the person and realize what you missed?
Every person is of value to God, from the least to the greatest. Paul writes:
Philippians 2:2-4
2  Now make me completely happy! Live in harmony by showing love for each other. Be united in what you think, as if you were only one person.
3  Don't be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves.
4  Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
How do we "treat" (judge) others?
Blessings,
Pastor David
